Knowing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is important when deciding to buy or lease any commercial vehicle, especially when we’re talking about zero-emission! The TCO Estimator provides an estimated payback period for the upfront cost of a zero-emission vehicle in comparison to typical vehicles. The TCO also shows itemized costs over the service life of both vehicles.
The HVIP Vehicle Catalog allows you to look through a list of all Class 2b-8 zero-emission vehicles available for purchase through California HVIP! Choose a vehicle to see the base incentive amount for that model as well as HVIP approved dealers that sell it.

Cal Fleet Advisor can help you decide what kind of vehicle you need and can refer you to an HVIP-approved dealer. The dealer will walk you through the rest of the steps.
Right now, fully electric and hydrogen-powered trucks and buses qualify. Contact us or check with your dealer for more details on qualifying equipment.

DAC: Disadvantaged community as defined by the California Climate Investments Priority Population map found here.
ESB: Electric School Bus. An all-electric bus that uses a battery pack to store the electrical energy that powers the drive motor.
HVIP: Clean Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project. This program provides discounts for zero-emissions vehicles.
Infrastructure: This is all the equipment needed to support your ZEV. It might include electrical upgrades, chargers, hydrogen tanks, or fueling equipment.
ZEV: Zero-emissions vehicle. A vehicle that does not have any tailpipe exhaust (except for water in the case of hydrogen fuel cells).
MHD: Medium- and heavy-duty. This includes all vehicles over 10,001 pounds.
TCO: Total cost of ownership. This is the entire cost of a vehicle, including purchase price, taxes, insurance, fuel, maintenance, and registration.
