Knowing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is important when deciding to buy or lease any commercial vehicle, especially when we’re talking about zero-emission! The TCO tool provides an estimated payback period for the upfront cost of a zero-emission vehicle in comparison to typical vehicles. The TCO also shows itemized costs over the service life of both vehicles.

Cal Fleet Advisor can help you decide what kind of vehicle you need and can refer you to an HVIP-approved dealer! The dealer will walk you through the rest of the steps.

Right now, fully electric and hydrogen-powered trucks and buses qualify. Contact us or check with your dealer for more details on qualifying equipment.

HVIP: Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project.  This program provides discounts for zero-emission vehicles

ZEV: Zero-Emission Vehicle. A Vehicle that does not have any tailpipe exhaust (except for water in the case of hydrogen fuel cells)

ESB: Electric School Bus. An all-electric bus that uses a battery pack to store the electrical energy that powers the drive motor.

MHD: Medium and Heavy Duty. This includes all vehicles over 10,001 pounds.

TCO: Total Cost of Ownership. This is the entire cost of a vehicle, including purchase price, taxes, insurance, fuel, maintenance, and registration.

Infrastructure: This is all the equipment needed to support your ZEV. It might include electrical upgrades, chargers, hydrogen tanks, or fueling equipment.
